It’s back!
When the Broadway Bound Blogathon made its debut last year, more than one person approached me about making it an annual thing, and you know what? I agree with them. We need a little Broadway in our lives.
Since we only scratched the surface of the Great White Way last year, we’re going to stick with the same categories:
- Movies made about Broadway;
- Movies made from Broadway shows;
- Movies made into Broadway shows;
- Performers, directors, writers, etc. who have worked in both Broadway and Hollywood.
Here are the rules, and of course, we’re going with what works:
- Posts can be sent to me on or around June 1 through June 3, and no more than three. New material only, please. Podcasts and guest posts are also fine.
- If you’d like to participate, please leave your blog URL and what you’d like to write about.
- Again, posts can cover movies made about Broadway, movies made from Broadway shows, movies made into Broadway shows, and performers, directors, and composers who have worked in both Broadway and Hollywood. For a list of ideas, go here. (Ignore the strikethroughs–it’s from last year. I’m just too lazy to retype it. 🙂 )
- Since Broadway is such a big topic, duplicates will be verboten, although topics can be approached from different angles. For instance, one person can write a whole post about a topic and another can use the same topic as part of a list.
- Posts can be submitted to the comment section, my Contact page, Twitter (@TakingUpRoom), or e-mail (rebeccadeniston@gmail.com)
- Grab a banner and advertise the blogathon!

Too bad I just wrote about Mister Roberts; that banner would have been perfect. Instead, how about the usual unique Dubsism treatment of “The Music Man?”

So glad to see this is back! Could I do a little-known Marilyn Monroe movie called Let’s Make Love (1960)? It’s about an off-Broadway show, and the screenplay was co-written by Broadway veterans Norman Krasna and, oddly enough, Arthur Miller.
Actually, since this blogathon falls on Monroe’s birthday, I think I’d like to cover a few of her films: The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Let’s Make Love (if it’s allowed). Not sure whether it’ll be one giant post or separate ones yet.

Hey Rebecca. How are you? Firstly I’m thinking of changing my choice from Auntie Mame to something else. I haven’t quite decided yet. I still am going to do Ethel’s stage career though. And Secondly, I want to invite you to my latest blogathon that I announced the other night. I’m addicted to hosting blogathons. Here is the link.

Hi Rebecca. I’m not sure if my previous comment went through, as I’m having problems with WordPress commenting. Some of them seem to go in spam. I don’t know why it does that. Anyway, I am thinking that I may change my subject from Auntie Mame to write about another film. I still am going to do Ethel’s stage career – its just Auntie Mame I want to change out of it for something else.
Also, I’ve announced another blogathon, and you are cordially invited to join in. I’m addicted. Here is the link.

Thanks Rebecca. I will let you know as soon as I decide on another film. In the meantime, I will add you to the roster for “Hollow Triumph”. Great choice. Thanks for joining.

Dear Rebecca,
I’d love to join this blogathon. Does “For Me and My Gal” from 1942 qualify? It is about stage performers in vaudeville, but it seems to have a real Broadway theme. If not, I’ll think of something else.
Yours Hopefully,
Tiffany Brannan
